ROMANOS CAR RENTALS
TERMS & CONDITIONS
Reservations:
All reservations are made based on a specific model.
In case of non-availability of a specific model in the category pre-selected by the customer, always with reference to a confirmed reservation, Romanos Group reserves the right to provide to the customer a same category car.
Driver:
23 years old is the minimum age requirement for using cars of categories SMALL, MEDIUM, SUV, 25 years for PREMIUM and LUXURY oage is the minimum age requirement. Maximum age is 75.
Driving license:
Production of a valid license for driving in the Greek territory and the E.U., issued at least 1 year prior to the rental’s starting date, is required. Citizens of countries outside the E.U. are required to be in possession of a driver’s license valid both in Greece and in the European Union, or otherwise holders of an international driver’s license which they are required to present together with the valid driver’s license issued in their country.
Traffic tickets – Fines:
Traffic tickets and fines due to violations of the Highway Code are borne by the Renter. In addition, the Renter undertakes the payment of management costs, where required.
Means of Payment:
The Renter is required to produce a credit card as guarantee for the rental, even if payment is made in cash. Rental is prepaid.
The following forms of payment are generally accepted in Greece
All major Credit cards – Visa, Diners, MasterCard
ACCEPTED: American Express, MasterCard, Visa, Diners, Maestro, Prepaid credit cards
A valid credit card in the name of the main driver must be presented as guarantee for the rental. Our local car rental partner may reserve an amount of 900-2.400 Euro (depending on your selected car category) as guarantee, which will be released after the end of the rental period if no damage/theft has occurred.
In the event that you fail to present a valid credit card or lack of sufficient funds available on the credit card, car rental agent may refuse to release the vehicle. In these instances, no funds paid will be reimbursed.
Reservation Cancellations
Cancellation of a reservation must be done at least forty eight (48) hours prior to the scheduled date and hour of commencement of the vehicle’s rental (always according to the exact hour of reservation), as this has been made in the company’s reservations system. Should you wish to cancel a reservation, you should contact the company through email or call.
The following charges shall apply for the cancellation of reservations:
In case of a cancellation notice received by Romanos Group at least forty eight (48) hours prior to the scheduled commencement of the vehicle’s rental, any amount prepaid shall be refunded. In case the payment has been made by card (credit or debit) the refund of the respective amount may take up to 16 days depending on the partner bank of the card you used while making your booking.
In case of a cancellation notice received by Romanos Group less than forty eight (48) hours prior to the scheduled commencement of the vehicle’s rental, there will be refund the 50% of the rental amount.
After hours deliveries – collections:
Customer extra charge will be given to the customer depending on the request.
Out of station deliveries – collections:
Deliveries and collections out of stations take place upon request by the customer. The extra charge for deliveries-collections will be given to the customer after contact with Romanos Group.
Additional driver:
The charge for each additional driver is free. The maximum number of drivers is set at 2 persons.
Child seat:
The charge for child seat is set at 5€/day upon request by the customer and based on the company’s availability.
Snow chains:
The charge for snow chains is set at 30€/rental upon request by the customer and based on the company’s availability.
Fuel:
The renter has to return the car with the same quantity of fuel it had when collected. In case the car is returned with a quantity of fuel less than the original (namely, less than the quantity of fuel the vehicle had when collected by the customer), the customer shall be charged with the fuel difference and a service fee of 15 euros. No customer refund is provided in case of the car returned with a quantity of fuel greater than that collected. Vehicles are delivered with a maximum quantity of fuel, corresponding to 4/4 of the reservoir.
Mileage:
Free mileage is provided for rentals of more than 3 days’ duration. For rentals of a duration less than 3 days, prices include a 100 km/day limitation. In the latter case, should the renter wish for free mileage, it can opt for the free mileage package, at a charge according to the pricelist applicable from time to time. Otherwise, for each additional kilometer over and above 100km/day, the customer will be charged, upon return of the vehicle, with an amount of 0.10€ per kilometer .
Accident:
In case of an accident, the customer is charged with 50€ for the accident file administration costs and all the damage costs that caused by him.
DEPOSIT FOR GUARANTEE: For rentals in Greece, upon pick up of the vehicle, Romanos Goup will preauthorise an amount from the driver’s credit/debit card as a deposit for guarantee which will be fully refunded at the end of the rental, provided no other charges arise. Please note that the refund can take up to 16 days, depending on the issuing bank of the credit/debit card. The amount of the deposit varies according to the car category. Specifically:
- SMALL: € 900
- MEDIUM: € 1200
- SUV: € 1800
- PREMIUM: € 2400
Insurance
Damages that have been caused from the renter will be charged to him and need to be paid immediately.
Damage to Convertible Soft Top is not covered and will be paid in full by the customer.
**Please note that damages to the interior of the car (upholstery, dashboard, r/cd) as well as keys, wheel cover, antennas,etc are not covered by any insurance unless they were caused in an accident. Therefore, despite the extra insurances, our car rental partner may still reserve an amount for damages that are not covered by any other insurance.
LW: Tire and glass break coverage:
The renter is fully released of the liability for any damage to the car’s tires or glass only provided he/she accepts and signs the relevant terms of the company’s contract and pays the amount of:
10€/ rental day for the category SMALL
12€/ rental day for the category MEDIUM
25€/ rental day for the category SUV
45€/ rental day for the category PREMIUM
Theft :
The renter is fully released of the liability for any damage to the car in the event of theft, provided he/she accepts and signs the relevant terms of the company’s contract and pays the amount of:
15€/ rental day for the category SMALL
32€/ rental day for the category MEDIUM
48€/ rental day for the category SUV
90€/ rental day for the category PREMIUM
Main condition for the above coverage is the absence of negligence, even slight, or of unlawful conduct during the vehicle’s rental.
Road Assistance:
Romanos Group cars are covered by 24hours road assistance. Road assistance’s contact details are stated on the rental contract.
Where replacement of the vehicle deemed as necessary, up to 24 hours are required for areas in the Mainland, while for any other area within the Greek territory, a period of up to 72 hours is required.
If it is proven in the end that the replacement of the vehicle is not deemed necessary, then the lessee will be charged with transportation cost.
Car transport out of the country:
Transport and driving of the car outside the borders of the Greek Territory is prohibited. Driving of the car out of the country is allowed exceptionally and only upon written permission by the company and payment of the amount which the company shall determine in each case.
Car transport by ship:
For the car’s transport by ship, the company’s written approval is required.
For LUXURY category cars terms & conditions will be given upon request.
